Watch Filipino Idol Efren Penaflorida Wins CNN Hero of the Year Award Replay

I am amazed by how another Filipino gave pride to our country, Philippines.  Mr. Efren PeƱaflorida is too young to be a hero but because of his noble deeds, he became one of the most popular Filipino not only in the Philippines but in the world!  The CNN, one of the most popular international news company opened it's way to Efren, an ordinary young man who, in his humble spirit  helped spread education among children in the streets. Efren, together with his friends made effort to reach out to out of school youth children and give classes in the streets.  He made use of a pushcart, to easily bring books and other school supplies needed for his class in the streets. Because of this,  Efren was voted online with so many people and was among the top 10 nominees for the CNN "Hero of the Year" for 2009.  Last Saturday, Efren PeƱaflorida received the "CNN Hero of the Year Award" in Hollywood.

Pinoy Idol Gloria Macapagal Arroyo

It's my first day to post this blog and I'm so excited to start up with my topic. President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has been my idol. I consider her as one person I really look up to. Since she took oath as President of the Philippines, she had so many critics and detractors. But this person stayed focused with her job and for me, she is a living hero. She considers herself as the "working president". True enough, she has proven everyone that she really is. She works really hard for the Philippines economy and for the Filipino people. Yesterday, July 27, 2009, she delivered her last State of the Nation's address, 2009. A great speaker she is, every word from her is music to my ears. I admire her wit and humility. That's what she is, "small but terrible", an epitome of a great leader. I could only wish for another State of the Nation address from her. But let me thank her for the improvements she did to our province, Iloilo City. The road going to Sara, Iloilo, just in front of Sara Central School, which had been left hanging until her administration, the RORO(roll on, roll off) ferry project in Passi, Iloilo City, where me and my friends were able to ride going to bacolod and which we paid a very low fair price of only P45 going to Bacolod, the million peso flood control project in Jaro, Iloilo, construction is ongoing now, the overpass project in General Luna St., Iloilo City, the call centers in Iloilo City, software companies such as Eversun Software Corporation, a foreign company to where I am employed now. Let me also mention the Iloilo International Airport, the very cheap NFA rice which is sold for only P35. These are just a few of the President Gloria's projects. No other president has made Iloilo this good as it is today. Thank you is not enough to credit my president, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. A great pinoy idol!

Recently,  she received a recognition as she ranks number 44 in Forbes 100 Most Powerful Women in The World.
